Nathaniel D. Hussey | Of Counsel
Attorney Hussey spent ten years in criminal defense, domestic and child protective matters and obtained favorable jury verdicts in the Superior Courts of Maine. During the next six years, he went on to advise the Commissioner of the Maine Department of Corrections in H.R., equal employment opportunity and disability law, as well as conducting extensive training and internal investigations for the 1,400 employee department. Attorney Hussey’s journey then took him to the remote fishing outpost of Matinicus, Maine’s most remote year round inhabited island, some 20 miles offshore in Penobscot Bay. He successfully defended 3 of 23 fishermen and government officials sued in an antitrust and commercial fisheries dispute. His most notable achievement during this time was serving as co-counsel successfully challenging the Maine Department of Marine Resources’ closure of the Matinicus lobster fishery following a shooting incident among fishermen on the island. Attorney Hussey also took over the island’s property tax management from 2008 through 2013. He currently serves midcoast Maine clients in real estate, wills and trusts and related litigation.
